In the external appearance, we note two round headlights on the front of the car, side mirrors painted in body color and a chrome Volkswagen emblem.
The interior of Lupo is made with high quality and soundly. Light upholstery is perfectly combined with mirrors, which visually increases the interior space. The driver and front passenger seat are adjustable (back and forth, up and down). The size of the luggage compartment is 130 liters, the capacity of the fuel tank is 34 liters. Grade Comfortline please: electric windows, adjustable steering column, the presence of coasters, two airbags and belts with pyrotechnic tensioners.
The first generation of this model was equipped with three engines: two petrol (1.0 l / 50 hp and 1.4 l / 75 hp) and diesel 1.7 l SDI / 60 hp
A little later, in 1999, the range of engines will be supplemented by a gasoline engine, borrowed from Polo, with a volume of 1, 4 liters and 100 hp. In the summer of the same year, there will be a gasoline engine with direct fuel injection capable of producing 120 hp from its four cylinders, and then Volkswagen equipped the Lupo with the first in its history three-cylinder “turbo diesel” with a volume of 1.2 liters and 60 hp.
In 1999, Volkswagen introduced the VW Lupo 1.4 FSI, equipped with the first German gasoline engine with direct fuel injection. The abbreviation FSI stands for fuel stratified injection, which can be translated as "stratified fuel injection." Four-cylinder 16-valve engine develops 105 liters. with. at 6200 rpm, and the torque at 4250 rpm reaches 130 Nm, and all this with an engine size of 1.4 liters. At the same time, the engine is 15% more economical than the similar ones, equipped with conventional distributed fuel injection.
In 2000, Lupo appears with the GTI mark. The new model turned out to be quite dynamic, modern and with sports ambitions.
2000 VW Lupo 3L Turbo Diesel (Canada Import) Japan Auction Purchase Review
In 2001 and 2002, the Volkswagen Lupo 3L TDI ranks first in the competition for the most environmentally friendly car. This model consumes only 3 liters per 100 km.
In 2003, Lupo got another modification - Lupo Windsor. The novelty is equipped with seats with a special coating, steering wheel, trimmed leather, chrome trim luggage. Externally, the car differs from its usual counterparts by 14-inch wheels with tires of dimension 185/55, painted in body color with protective covers and darkened tail lights. Gamma engines include 3 petrol and 2 diesel.
The new generation of Lupo does not have to wait for the reason that the management of the concern has concluded that it is not advisable to release this model. Experts attribute this conclusion to the fact that the current VW Lupo is too expensive and its production as a separate model becomes economically unprofitable. In addition, this model is too small, which also greatly limits the range of its potential buyers. Already at the end of this year, Volkswagen promises to present to the world community a worthy replacement called Tupi.
