Lada Nadezhda - Niva for seven
The first domestic four-wheel drive seven-seater mini-van "Hope" has been produced in the Experimental Industrial Production Center of the VAZ VAZ since 1999 on the platform of the long Niva VAZ-2131. It has an original one-volume carrying body with a sliding right tailgate, which provides convenience when embarking and disembarking passengers. In size, the VAZ-2120 is one of the largest in the range of VAZ cars. The track of the front and rear wheels is like that of the Niv, but the wheelbase is increased by half a meter. The length of the car reaches 4.3 m, which allows you to place in the cabin three rows of seats, on which I sit seven people. The backrests of the second and third row are made folding for the transformation of the cabin from seven-seater to double passenger-utility version or, for example, a berth. Car 2120 is suitable for active family holidays, long-distance tourist trips and use as a company car for small firms. It combines patency, smoothness and comfort for passengers.
The mass of the car with a full load of 2 tons. Trailer towing is not provided, the machine itself is too heavy. But the towing eye is located ... in the "trunk" next to the tool. If necessary, it can be screwed into special holes on the left or right in the front and rear of the car. The left part of the floor is entirely given to a large fuel tank - its capacity is not less than 70 liters. The tool and the jack are in a niche under the floor at the end of the cabin (accessed through the tailgate opening), and under the side covers there is a place for the little things needed by the driver. By the way, through the same covers access to the rear lights. Unusually located reserve - under the floor in the area of the right door.
The instrument panel is original, but, naturally, with the use of VAZ buttons and keys, but the instrument cluster is borrowed from the "dozens". The heater on the "twenty" is used from the "Samara-2", but, besides it, there is also an additional one, in the "left side" near the middle seat. It is needed to warm passengers in the middle and rear rows. A sunroof is embedded in the ceiling above the front seats, but you can add a second one on request in the rear of the cabin. This configuration is not provided by chance: the rear windows do not open, so you can not do without a second hatch in the heat. The machine is equipped with a steering booster.
The brake system is copied from the VAZ SUV: a hydraulic dual-drive with a vacuum booster and a rear brake pressure regulator. The brakes of the front wheels - disc, rear - drum. "Handbrake" - cable operated on the rear brake pads. Nivov and steering: steering gear worm-roller, pendulum lever, one transverse and two side rods. As you can see, the creators of 2120 in relation to the engine, transmission and chassis make the most of the possibility of unifying parts with the VAZ-2131 car.
The type of vehicle transmission is 4x4, with permanent differential all-wheel drive, as well as front and rear suspension on the basis of the VAZ-2131, optimized for elastic characteristics and angular rigidity due to the use of new springs and shock absorbers. A five-speed three-shaft gearbox with synchronizers on all gears (except for reverse) through a short intermediate shaft with a hinge of equal angular velocity transmits torque to the transfer case.
The two-stage transfer case is equipped with a center differential with forced locking. From the transfer case, the torque is constantly transmitted to the front and rear drive axles through the drive shafts. Front axle split. Carter main gear is rigidly "tied" to the engine block. With the front drive wheels, the main pair is connected by swinging half-axles with hinges of equal angular speeds. Rear axle continuous with rigid beam. Used "nivovsky" bridge, but the beam is strengthened. Independent front suspension, with swing arms, coil springs and hydraulic shock absorbers. There is a stabilizer bar. In the front suspension, almost everything is “nivovskoe”, only the springs are original, with increased rigidity, and the shock absorbers characteristic is changed. In the dependent rear suspension (which also almost repeats the “Niva”), there are more changes - except for the springs and shock absorbers, the brackets of the latter and the transverse bar are changed.
Two versions are produced: with a carburetor engine with a displacement of 1.8 l (VAZ-2130) with a power of 80 and with a engine with a distributed fuel injection with a displacement of 1.7 l (VAZ-21214) and 84 hp In the future, it is planned to install on the minivan a new two-liter engine, which is currently being tested.
Also in the family of cars it is planned to have modifications of the type:
"Van" - a truck with a high roof for the transport of various bulky goods;
"Service" - the organization on the basis of the car mobile workshops;
"Manager" - a special car for business trips of heads of enterprises (office on wheels);
"Taxi" - 4-seater car with a spacious luggage compartment.
Serially VAZ-2120 cars are produced only in the "standard" version.
