Skoda Roomster and the sudden findings of Largus.
For the first time, the Roomster concept was presented to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2003. After only 29 months, the serial Roomster rolled off the assembly line. It is noteworthy that, compared with the prototype, a mass-produced car externally changed not fundamentally. Roomster has raised the Skoda brand to a new level of quality.
The name of the car was chosen symbolic: "room" personifies comfort, and the ending "ster" (by analogy with "roadster") - "passenger" temperament.
Sporty bright appearance, panoramic glazing of the roof, wide side windows - everything looks original, harmonious and modern. Headlights give the Roomster a friendly and elegant look. The windshield is a continuation of the body, resulting in a feeling that you are in the cockpit. The back of the body is made in a strictly cubic form. By design, the front and rear parts are independent of each other, and yet the car looks harmonious. Designers visually connected two independent halves at the expense of the middle line surrounding the Roomster along the lower edge of the rear side windows, the edge of the front doors, fenders, headlights and the chrome upper part of the grille.
In addition to the usual halogen headlights, Roomster also has different spotlights with an H7 halogen lamp and an optical system that is used in xenon headlights (passing light through lenses). From a safety point of view, adaptive headlights are an alternative to floodlight headlamps. At a speed of 3 km / h, the headlights turn in the direction of travel at an angle of up to 15 degrees.
Adaptive fog lights work in corners when driving at speeds of up to 40 km / h and allow you to light the road in the direction of maneuver. At the end of the rotation, the light returns to its original position.
Despite the dynamic and rapid lines that penetrate the exterior of Roomster, this is a very comfortable family car. Inside the Roomster has a clear division into "driver" and "passenger" parts. The front of the cabin offers a "passenger" landing, a decent level of ergonomics and comfort. The range of adjustment of the steering wheel (height and reach) and the seat allows you to take a comfortable position for the driver of any height. The devices are concise and informative. The shift lever has the best moves, an understandable shift algorithm and a clear selectivity. The seat of the driver and front passenger have pronounced lateral support.
The fact that the Roomster compact van is reminded by a front panel equipped with a double glove box and a decent amount of different containers located around the perimeter, holders and cup holders. The ceiling height of 1.6 meters allows you to fully experience the scale of the space.
The back of the cabin offers a more vertical fit. The configuration of the seats can be changed to infinity - any of the parts can be moved forward, folded or removed from the cabin at all. If you completely disassemble the second row of seats, the luggage compartment volume will increase to 1780 liters. Roomster owes its outstanding versatility to the new VarioFlex seating system.
According to the already established good tradition, Skoda offers a decent selection of gasoline and diesel engines with different power and traction characteristics. The engine of the basic configuration - an economical 1.2 NTR with a capacity of 64 hp, an alternative to it are 1.4 / 86 hp engines. and 1.6 / 105 hp
Fans of diesel versions can choose one of the modern 1.4 TDI PD engines with a power of 69 or 80 hp. and 1.9 TDI PD / 105 hp For two more powerful turbo diesel engines, a DPF filter can be ordered.
You can choose and gearbox - five-speed manual or automatic (with a powerful version of the engine).
Borrowed from the Fabia (front) and Octavia (rear) suspension provide the car with a relatively decent level of comfort, while allowing for quite active maneuvering.
