Renault Duster - compact crossover, developed in the technocenter Renault in Guanicure. It was first introduced on December 8, 2009 under the Dacia subsidiary for European markets. Later versions were presented under the Renault brand, produced in Russia, Brazil, India and Colombia. From English, the word duster translates as "boot"; that is, an SUV is a car for dusty roads. Despite the relatively short history of being in the global market, Duster managed to gain tremendous popularity - according to an official statement from Renault, it became the best-selling model of the company. In Russia, in two years of sales, more than 150 thousand copies of the crossover were sold.
In 2014, the model was restyled. The public presentation of the Renault Duster 2014 was held in September, at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Russian Evgeny Tkachev, author of the exterior of the Lada XRAY concept, worked on creating the new look. The external updates that touched the crossover cannot be called global, however, the appearance of the car has become more attractive and modern. The front of the restyled Duster has become more solid, thanks to a change in the radiator grille, a new powerful front bumper that has received a plastic frame for the lower air intake, a protective “ski”, and also rounded fog. Smooth, wide rectangles of doorways are crossed by a straight stamping, and beautiful steps, made in the form of overlays, give the side part a complete look. The feed of the renewed SUV is distinguished by the original shape of the parking lights, the wide tailgate, and the presence of a chrome-plated fitting that looks out from under the stylish metallic lining. The basic versions of the crossover are equipped with 215/65 R16 protectors installed on alloy wheels. Alloy wheels are available as an option.
Not surprisingly, a small list of changes in the exterior of the car did not change the size of the vehicle: the new generation has a length of 4135 meters, a width of 1.822 meters, and a height of 1625 meters. The wheelbase is also completely transferred from the previous generation and is 2673 meters. Ground clearance - 205 mm. The total weight of the car is in the range of 1280 - 1450 kg.
Unlike the exterior, the improvements in the interior of the car are almost negligible. Since many customers complained that the engine noise and other external phenomena were very well heard in the cabin, especially at high speed, the insulation was significantly reworked. The manufacturer made an attempt to raise the class of the interior by improving the dashboard and center panel. Now you can choose the upholstery you like from 4 options, incl. Genuine leather has become available. In earlier versions, only its artificial counterpart was offered.
But the most important novelty of the restyled version was the turbocharged 1.2-liter gasoline engine with 4 cylinders with 125 hp. and Eco Mode ride mode (not available in all versions). With it, it is possible to significantly reduce fuel consumption by blocking some functions. A gear shift indicator (GSI) has appeared, which visually notifies when it is optimal to perform a gear shift.
Ahead, the SUV has an independent suspension (MacPherson stanchions), behind are offered (to choose from) two types of suspension implementation: for all-wheel drive modifications - an independent “multi-link”, for front-wheel drive - a torsion semi-independent beam, rack steering received a power steering. All-wheel drive cars are equipped with ventilated brakes, the diameter of which is in the basic configurations - 269 mm, in the top versions - 280 mm.
As before, the Duster is available in four versions: "Authentique", "Expression", "Privilege" and "Luxe Privilege". The composition of the basic configuration is somewhat poor: one airbag, ABS, three-point seat belts, immobilizer, hydraulic power steering, fabric interior decoration, 16-inch. steel wheels. The next in terms of equipment is the “Expression” equipment - power windows, rails, remote control, adjustment of the column in height, a simple audio system, adjustment of the height of the front belts are added to the equipment of the basic version.
