The compact city hatchback Peugeot 108 debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in the spring of 2014. It replaced the Peugeot 107, which has been produced since 2005 and enjoyed a fairly high consumer demand. The car turned out to be one of the easiest and most stylish in its class. As before, the Peugeot 108 is available in both a three-door and a five-door body, but now they have also been joined by a convertible, which has received the name Top prefix. It is equipped with a sliding fabric top, which slides off to the upper edge of the trunk lid.
Overall dimensions of the five-door version of Peugeot 108: length - 3 475 mm, width - 1 650 mm, height - 1460 mm, wheelbase - 2340 mm, ground clearance - 150 mm. The minimum overhangs are 675 mm at the front, 460 mm at the rear, the front wheels are 1425 mm and the rear wheels are 1420 mm. The car rests on the asphalt surface of the road with four wheels with 165/65 R14 or 165/60 R15 tires, 14 steel wheels with hubcaps or light alloy wheels of radius 15.
The front part of the hatchback looks aggressive, energetic, bright and sporty. Front bumper with a mouth of the lower air intake of a solid size, an aerodynamic skirt, large inserts-platforms for the placement of LED strips daytime running lights and round fog. Above, the broad nostrils of the false radiator grille and narrow headlights were arranged. The hood surface is decorated with the Peugeot logo and expressive ribs, flowing into the roof rack.
The profile of the body is characterized by large, as for a compact body, the radii of the wheel arches, a short and sloping hood, a strong inclination of the windshield frame, a high side glazing line rising to the stern, a soft roofline, and a miniature rear hatchback.
The feed looks stylish and bright thanks to the large side lights with LED filling and 3D effect (three bright ruby arcs in each lamp), a neat tailgate with tinted glass that descends to the rear bumper monument.
As part of the personalization, a choice of several two-color body painting schemes and decorative elements for decoration are offered. First, you can order a sliding fabric top in different colors. Secondly, to decorate the car with different stripes, applications, interesting stickers. Those seven stickers: barcode, kilt, diamond, dual, sport, dressy and tatto.
The volume of the trunk with a spare wheel is 180 liters. With a repair kit - 196 liters. With the second row folded down, the luggage compartment volume increases to 750 liters. The back is folded in the proportion of 50:50, the width of the trunk between the arches is the heel of the wheels just over 1000 mm, the loading height is 770 mm.
The Peugeot 108 is a four-seater saloon, but if the driver and the front passenger are offered comfortable and comfortable seats with pronounced lateral support and a high back with an integrated head restraint, then the seat in the second row is clearly not enough and it is better to place children in the rear seats. The design of the driver’s workplace, front panel and center console is concise and simple. Starting with the Peugeot 108 Allure version or as an option for simpler configurations, the control panel houses a 7-inch touchscreen display through which you can control the car’s audio system and settings.
The list of standard equipment includes LED running lights, central locking, multifunctional steering wheel, height-adjustable steering column, on-board computer, audio system with USB and AUX connectors, six airbags, power accessories, ESP and ISOFIX mounting for child seats. With the rising cost, the Peugeot 108 will receive electric windows on the front, a 3.5-inch audio system, air conditioning or climate control, electric and heated exterior mirrors, a driver’s lift, navigation, leather-trimmed seats, a rear-view camera, keyless access to the salon, alloy wheels, and other attributes of a modern car.
Technical characteristics of Peugeot imply the presence of two petrol three-cylinder engines. The first is a 1-liter 68-horsepower VTi. The second unit - a 1.2-liter VTi 83 power. By the way, it is combined only with a 5-speed “mechanics”, while for a 1-liter manual transmission and a robotic 5-speed transmission are proposed.
The indisputable advantages of the Peugeot 108 are: compact body size, modest fuel consumption, a huge selection of accessories, solid electronic standards for the classroom standards and high-quality interior trim materials.
Assembling the model is adjusted at the company's plant in the Czech Republic.
