Kia Carnival 2018 review: Platinum petrol
For the first time, the Carniva minivan was introduced to the general public at the 1999 Chicago Auto Show. This minivan is based on the Ford Windstar platform.
In terms of volume and trim, the car is closest to the American models of this class: large headlights, double sliding side doors, a massive bumper, a wide aisle between the seats that can be moved when transporting passengers and moved apart to accommodate large cargo, flat floor, high ceiling .
Under the attractive, modern shell is a spacious and comfortable lounge. Passengers will be happy to take three rows of seats, and in all places is very spacious. The second row seats are separate and equipped with armrests, on the ceiling there is a heater power regulator and airflow deflectors.
The location of the seats changes quickly and easily, and if you stretch the last two rows of seats, you get a real bedroom. If you remove the seat or part thereof, you get a fairly spacious luggage compartment.
The driver's seat is adjustable in all directions, the steering column is height adjustable, the mirrors are electrically operated.
Separate words deserve the air conditioning system (above each place has its own air intake) and stoves (there are two of them in the car).
The line of power units consists of two engines: 2.5 liter V-shaped "six", 165 hp power. and 2.9-liter 126 hp turbocharged diesel.
With any of them, Kia Carnival has enough dynamics to keep up with the city traffic and to move quickly and easily out of the city. Comfortable travel also contribute decent insulation and excellent smoothness.
Multifunctional minivan Kia Carnival without a murmur overcomes fossae and bumps, instantly dampens longitudinal and transverse vibrations. At the same time, shocks from road irregularities are almost not transmitted to the controls.
The car is assembled by an automatic or manual gearbox.
The basic package includes: air conditioning, two front airbags, audio package with automatic antenna, ABS, alloy wheels, folding mirrors and electric sunroof. Better controllability contributes to power steering with variable performance pump and disc brakes (front - ventilated).
In 2001, Carnival was restyled, as a result of which it received an updated exterior, interior, as well as new engines.
Internal useful volume reached 3.6 m³. The gamma of engines was expanded with a new 2.5-liter gasoline V6 with a power of 150 hp, which meets Euro 3 standards. They began to install a 2.9 liter turbo diesel 2900 CRDi with a power of 145 hp equipped with a common rail system.
In the summer of 2003, Kia released the Skyline series, in an amount of 500 units.
The exterior of the Skyline is distinguished by a chrome grille and alloy wheels. The car's interior is completely made of Alcantara leatherette, which differs from genuine leather in that it tolerates temperature fluctuations and increased humidity better.
The "Skyline" series is based on the Carnival EX version and is offered exclusively with a 2.9-liter turbo diesel with an output of 145 hp. Fuel consumption is 8.2 liters per 100 kilometers.
In 2006, Kia plans to introduce a new generation of Carniva. It will be different from the previous more modern body design, the interior of the passenger compartment worked out to the smallest detail and a variety of transformation options. The third row of seats will unfold in a 60/40 ratio and fit into the floor, forming a flat platform. The updated car will receive a number of new engines and an upgraded transmission.
The 2006 model year Carnival will noticeably increase in size and will surpass its predecessor, both in terms of external dimensions and length of wheelbase.
A solid eight-seater minivan Kia Carnival with a transverse engine and front-wheel drive is also available in Kaliningrad. Stylish design, a harmonious combination of original solutions and elegant consistency, functionality - won recognition from many motorists around the world.
The Kia Sedona car is actually the “American brother” of the Carnival model. It differs body design and more impressive size.
