For the first time this small car of class A appeared in 1996. His extraordinary, frivolous appearance has found its fans. Rounded shapes give the car a peculiarity. Wide energy-absorbing bumpers go to the sidewalls of the body and cover the wheel wells, one name remains from the wings - they are quite small. Together with the plastic bumpers are made and fenders. No less original is the profile of the hood - its side edges are bent upward, forming a sharp contour at the junction with the wings. In general, when developing the body shape, designers came, if I may say so, from the oval. That same blue oval, which is the emblem of Ford.
Another distinctive feature of the Ka is the wheelbase (2450 mm) long for this class of cars, which makes the interior more spacious. For the sake of justice it is worth noting that with comfort there can only accommodate four people. Interior trim is characterized by non-trivial design ideas and high-quality finishing materials. The front seats have adjustable height cushion, backrest and distance from the pedals, we note a good lumbar support.
The dashboard is characterized by a very bold and non-standard design. The speedometer is made in the form of a large circle, the second dial, a smaller one - the fuel gauge. All other information is at the mercy of test lamps. The oval-shaped clock in the center is a spectacular detail of the interior.
The main driving force is a gasoline 4-cylinder Endura-E engine with a capacity of 1.3 liters and 60 hp. with a good torque (105 Nm at 2500 rpm). Maximum speed Ford Ka 155 km / h. The power unit in combination with a small weight of the car (871 kg) provides amazing accelerating dynamics in the first and second gears. The three-point scheme of its installation ensures low noise and vibration.
The chassis features advanced McPherson struts and gas shock absorbers. It provides excellent grip and good handling. As an asset of passive safety, you can record strong beams in the doors and a crossbar, specially located across the body behind the dashboard.
There are several different configurations. The basic one offers: power steering, which considerably facilitates maneuvering in the city, airbag for the driver, central locking, power windows. One of the richest is the "Collection" equipment. It includes: air conditioning, power windows and mirrors, electric front and rear windows, stereo. The latter, by the way, has a special originality of design. In the middle of the center console is a display with sensors to adjust the frequency and adjust the sound. And around with picturesque asymmetry scattered large black buttons of memory and power.
Ford Ka Collection bumpers consist of three parts, the side sections cover the corners and wheel arches. Thanks to this design, only a part of the bumper can suffer in a critical situation. Anti-lock braking system (ABS), offered as an option, makes the car even safer and more manageable. The list of additional equipment is quite wide.
In honor of the celebration of the fifth anniversary of Ford Ka, the company offered new versions of this car, for example, Ka Style, with a unique body trim and bumpers of various colors.

In 2000, at an exhibition in Turin, designers of the Ghia studio showed the Streetka roadster. The car will deserve a lot of positive feedback, and the company decided to mass-produce it. To prepare for the launch of the series took another three years. The development and production of Streetka was entrusted to Pininfarina.
The image of the car turned out harmonious. The most spectacular in appearance is the two-tier front and rear lights and massive polished safety arches. The highlight of the cabin - sports seats (a gift from the Focus ST170). In the cabin space for things - at least: a shelf on the front panel and a small locker behind the seat backs. The car is designed for two passengers. The trunk for such a baby is quite roomy 214 liters. Streetka got a platform from the Fiesta a decade ago, however, upgraded.
The three-door Sportka hatchback was also built on this platform, but it retained the standard rear track width of 1,393 mm (Streetka has both front and rear tracks wider than the Ka, 22 and 59 mm, respectively). Sportka received a gearbox with close gear ratios and another main gear. The body version with the Sport prefix is distinguished by extended wheel arches. The car turned out to be 130 kg lighter than the roadster and two seconds faster.
Streetka and Sportka are equipped with 1.6-liter Duratec engine capacity of 95 hp. and 135 Nm. Fuel consumption in the urban cycle exceeds 10 liters per 100 km. The rear brakes remained drum, though borrowed from the Fiesta Sport model. The front disc mechanisms are inherited from the Ford Focus.
In 2009 came the second generation Ford Ka (Typ RU8). It was developed in collaboration with Fiat. The basis of the car lay platform, which has already been used to create such machines as the Fiat 500 and Fiat Panda. The length of the 3-door hatchback is 3620 mm, width - 1658, height - 1505; wheelbase - 2300 mm, track - 1414/1408. The capacity of the trunk when fully seated is 225 liters. But if you fold the rear seat backs, the loading space increases to 745 liters. Ka's curb weight is from 940 kg (with a gasoline 8-valve valve). Whereas with a turbo diesel car pulls already at 1055 kg. The air resistance coefficient is 0.337.
Under the hood of the Ford Ka is a 1.24-liter gasoline engine with a power of 69 hp. or diesel JTD Multijet displacement of 1.25 liters with a 16-valve gas distribution with a capacity of 75 hp Turbodiesel can be ordered with a DPF particulate filter, by the way, it is very economical, it consumes only 4.2 liters of diesel fuel per hundred. With the 69-strong 8-klapannik Ka can accelerate from zero to 100 km / h in 13.1 seconds. Announced maximum speed - 159 km / h, the average consumption of gasoline (EU) - 5.1 liters per 100 kilometers. Both engines are paired with a manual 5-speed gearbox.
McPherson front suspension, rear - on the conjugated trailing arms; helical springs. It is noteworthy that the Ka II suspension is equipped with a transverse stabilizer not only in front, but also in the rear. A simple improvement made it possible to choose the springs softer - and in another way to calibrate the shock absorbers. Brakes front with ventilated discs (diameter 240 mm), rear drum.
Ambiente is equipped with ABS, 2 airbags, air conditioning, electric power steering, CD / MP3 audio system with 6 speakers and a connector for connecting external devices, as well as 14-inch steel wheels on tires 175/65 R14. The Titanium version has electric windows, heating and electric mirrors, fog lights, a folding key with remote control central lock and wheels 15 "tires 195/50 R15. Titanium grade provides access to "luxury" options, many of which are not available to Ambiente even for an extra charge. For example, for Titanium, you can order options such as climate control, parking sensors, heated windshield, choose one of four bright interior colors, order leather trim and even decorate the body with a special paint or a tattoo on the roof and sidewall.
