1978 Ferrari 308 GTS - One Take

The Ferrari 308 is a mid-engined sports car produced by the Italian car company Ferrari from 1975 to 1985. The debut of the sports car took place in October 1975 at the Paris Motor Show. The first car of the 308th series was a model called the Dino 308 GT4. It was designed by the Italian design studio Bertone, and was intended to replace the previously produced model called Dino 246. It was a four-seater sports car in a coupe with a 2 + 2 fitment. In contrast, the Ferrari 348 GTB model released in the same year was a two-seater and was developed by Pininfarina. And this version is already more loved by connoisseurs of Ferrari and was even named one of the most beautiful models of the company. And indeed she was much more attractive than the 308th from Bertone. When designing, Pininfarina took the body of the Ferrari 365 GT / 4 Berlinetta, which was redesigned for a new sports car. The sports car received a more aggressive sporty appearance, in which its power was felt. It is worth noting that the body design of the first series of Ferrari 308 GTB was made of fiberglass. This material was used until 1977. In June 1977, the second series 308 GTB was released, the body of which was completely steel. In the same year, a version appeared in the back of the Targa roof called the Ferrari GTS.

The Ferrari 308 GTB and GTS sports cars, as well as the Dino 308 GT4, were equipped with a DOHC V8 Tipo F106 AB engine with a volume of 3.0 liters, whose power was 255 hp. at 7700 rpm. For the American market, a power unit DOHC V8 Tipo F106 AE with a power of 240 hp was installed on the cars. at 6,600 rpm and was equipped with a system to reduce the toxicity of exhaust gases. The sports car could accelerate to 100 km / h in 6.5 seconds, and the maximum speed was 256 km / h. Cars of the 308 series were equipped with an independent double-lever suspension.

In 1980, the model 308 GTB and GTS get the new V8 Tipo F106 BB engine, which was equipped with a mechanical Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system, and with it the letter "i" in the title (308 GTBi / GTSi). Engine power was 214 hp at 6,600 rpm. Which in turn reduced the speed characteristics of the car. It began to accelerate to 100 km / h in more than 7 seconds, and its maximum speed was 227 km / h. Such a reduction in power was not well received, and the release of these versions lasted only until 1982, when they were replaced by a new model called the Ferrari 308 GTB / GTS Quattrovalvole.

The debut of the Ferrari 308 Quattrovalvole took place in October 1982 at the Paris Motor Show. The sports car received a V8 Tipo F105 AB engine, whose power was 240 hp. at 7000 revolutions per minute (for the American market 230 hp at 6800 revolutions per minute). To 97 km / h the car accelerated in 6.1 seconds, and the maximum speed was 251 km / h. New models had only minor external changes, namely the updated grille and new side mirrors. Production was completed in early 1985. In the period from 1982 to 1985. 1344 Ferrari 308 GTB Quattrovalvole and 6068 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole were assembled.

It is worth noting the fact that Ferrari 308 was the best-selling model of the company, and over 10 years of production, more than 12,000 copies were produced.
