DS 4 review - Carbuyer (Citroen DS4)
The Citroen DS4 debuted at the Paris International Motor Show in the fall of 2010. This model harmoniously fit into the philosophy of the DS family. The car is based on the concept of High Rider. It has an interesting smooth silhouette, which is often found in a coupe and looks very unusual for a hatchback. It is worth noting an interesting layout of the rear doors, handles which are hidden. The rear doors merge with the relief arches of the rear wheels, forming a coherent composition. Rear lights resemble boomerangs and look fresh and original. The windshield of the Citroen DS4 is quite large and panoramic. It provides an overview of the front passengers at an angle of up to 45 °. In combination with a high enough car landing such a windshield improves visibility. LED lights give the appearance of exclusivity, which are lit day and night. Chrome moldings, envelopes tinted windows, muscular wheel arches, emphasizing the size of the wheels (19 inches), a smooth roofline, which completes the spoiler - all this gives dynamism to the lines of the body.
The size of the car is as follows: length 4.27 m, height 1.81 m, width 1.53 m. It is outwardly relatively small, it hides a surprisingly spacious cabin under the graceful body, into which five people can sit comfortably and a large 370- liter trunk. DS4 has numerous places to store items. These include a large glove box with backlit, spacious pockets on the doors, which fit a half liter bottle, and a drawer under the front passenger seat.
Citroen DS4 offers a luxurious lounge. The steering wheel, instrument panel and sculpted center console look fresh and modern. A choice of five leather color combinations for seat upholstery is offered, including two-tone options. The models in the maximum configuration dashboard, door cards and front seats upholstered in leather of the highest category. The chrome-plated parts of the vents, dashboards, gearshift lever and some elements of the center console are another touch giving a sense of respectability. Particular attention was paid to noise insulation. Engine vibrations, wheel and wind noise are minimized. This was achieved by installing additional sound-absorbing material around the engine compartment and improving the sealing of the doors. An aluminum brake pedal, leather-covered door handles and general lighting complete the interior of the Citroen DS4.
The engine range for the Citroen DS4 includes five powertrains. Two diesel engines with a capacity of 110 and 160 horsepower, as well as three petrol 1.6-liter engines, developed jointly with BMW with a capacity of 120, 155 and 200 horsepower. The entire range of engines will be equipped with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. And of course, all engines are economical, low CO2 emissions and comply with the Euro 5 standard.
In front of the Citroen DS4, MacPherson strut stands are used, and a flexible crossbar can be found at the back. In addition, taking into account the chosen configuration, the car uses ventilated disc brakes, whose diameter is 340 mm.
The basic version includes ABS, stabilization and anti-skidding systems, several airbags, fog lights, cryuse control, power accessories, audio system, air conditioning, on-board computer, central locking and a folding back sofa.
