From the spring of 2001 in Brazil at the new General Motors do Brasil (GMB) plant in Gravatai, the production of Celta compact cars began. Even more power develops a 16-valve version of the petrol liter engine - 68 hp. against 60 hp in the 8-valve. More powerful models are equipped with 1.6-liter engines of 92 and 101 hp. (respectively in the 8 - and 16-valve version). Economy models are driven by a 1.7-liter eddy diesel engine developed by Opel with a capacity of 60 hp.

Over the past years, Celta has been modernized several times in both Brazil and other countries, and the current model has been available since spring 2006. It is distinguished by new front lighting, bumpers and an updated interior with improved materials of decoration. The range of engines remained unchanged - the base engine of 1.0 liter R4 8V develops 70 hp. and 86 Nm, and the 1.4-liter R4 8V - 85 hp and 116 Nm. As before, the Celta is completed only with a mechanical 5-speed gearbox. Modifications -Life, Spirit and Super.
