The Alfa Romeo GTV is a luxurious front-wheel-drive sport coupe of the Gran Turismo class, a joint development with Pininfarina.

For the first time this model was shown in 1994 in Paris. The GTV model is a modern Gran Turismo sports coupe with a 2 + 2 layout. Alfa Romeo GTV cars are equipped with disc brakes with servo amplifier and four-channel ABS from Bosch. These are front-wheel-drive models with transverse gasoline and diesel engines (2 spark plugs on twin-spark cylinders) and only with manual transmissions. From the beginning of production, the car was equipped with 2 engines - 2.0 TS 16v (150 hp) and 3.0V6 24v (220 hp).

In 1996, a 3-liter V6 unit appeared, the power of which at the GTV coupe was brought to 220 hp. Gran Turismo Veloce (GTV), equipped with this engine, starts from zero to 100 km / h in 6.7 seconds, and the maximum speed is 240 km / h. Since May 1998, a new 1.8 TS 16v engine has been installed on GTV, with variable valve timing. Modernization in 2001 affected mainly power units, the number of which was reduced to 2. The basic versions are now equipped with a 2.0-liter “fours” with 150 hp, and more high-speed ones with 3.0-liter motors with 220 hp.

In 2002, the emergence of more powerful engines such as JTS 165 hp and the new 3.2-liter "six" in 250 hp The new GTV custom equipment includes the Blaupunkt satellite radio navigation system with a carrier of cartographic database on CDs. A high-end audio system is offered with a CD changer for 10 discs. Standard equipment includes two front airbags, as well as natural leather upholstery with the use of chrome-plated metal in the interior.

In 2003, the Alfa Romeo GTV coupe received a small portion of updates. Alterations, mainly touched the exterior of the car, as well as trim. The updated coupe is easily recognizable by the new design of the front end. There appeared a new, larger grille with characteristic horizontal stripes inside, the idea of ​​which was borrowed from the new Alfa Romeo 147.
