Review driver Lada Kalina
VAZ Kalina is a modern car of class B. Each body type got its own index: sedan (1118), five-door hatchback (1119), wagon (1117). The first in the Kalina family appeared sedan, launched into production in November 2004. Smooth contours of the body, a wedge-shaped front part, flat sidewalls and original efficient lighting give the car a modern elegant appearance. A disproportionately high body is a charge for 160 mm of ground clearance. The opening angle of the door is almost 90 degrees. It provides ease of landing. Having a slightly smaller length compared to the SAMARA family of cars and the VAZ 110, the Kalina is more maneuverable and better adapted to the driving conditions in an urban environment.
The developed interior space of the cabin, its modern original design, used finishing materials create comfortable conditions for accommodating the driver and passengers. Interior decoration is made of light-colored plastic, which undoubtedly adds comfort. The front panel has soft, smooth outlines and, although assembled from hard plastic, looks very nice. Ergonomics paid special attention. The driver sits much more comfortable than in the VAZ 2110, all controls are at hand. Behind the gear lever no longer need to drag down. Changed the drive gear, rear now turns on when lifting the ring lock on the lever, rather than pushing the latter, as it was in the "tenth" model. The salon is quite spacious, especially in the head zone - 13 centimeters of height advantage over the “ten” have affected. The front seats have an impressive range of longitudinal adjustment. The rear seats can be folded in the proportion of 60:40. The luggage compartment of the sedan and hatchback can not boast of impressive dimensions, but the station wagon offers significantly enhanced options for the transport of goods.
The viburnum of the first years of production was equipped with the well-known VAZ 21114 engine with a 1.6-liter capacity of 80 horsepower. Fuel injection, plastic intake manifold, Euro III compliant. Already "in the base" model received electric power steering. Later, two new fixed configurations were added to the “Norma” basic configuration: a cheaper “standard” and an expanded “norm +”. The latter received airbags (driver and passenger), as well as pretensioners and belt force limiters. Brakes got ABS, wheels - 14-inch wheels. In the line of power units, a new 16-valve engine with a 1.4-liter capacity of 89 hp has appeared.
Especially for Kalina, the original color scheme was developed with “fruit” names: “Orange”, “Apricot”, “Plum”, “Mango”, “Kiwi”, “Duchess” '.
The premiere of the second generation Lada Kalina was held at the Moscow International Auto Show in 2012. The previous generation of the model was held on the conveyor for nine years - its release was discontinued in March 2013. In the same 2013, the mass production of the second generation Kalina model began. The first car that came off the assembly line was made in the back of a hatchback of the Magma brand orange and a luxury package.
Among the new advantages of the model in the company AvtoVAZ have listed the original design, a wide range of options, increased comfort, improved safety and increased reliability.
The car began to look more dynamic by changing the character of the hood lines, fenders, wheel arches, bumpers, tailgate and sidewall windows. Front lighting - protruding "faceted" headlights - is located above, the hood is raised in the middle part.
Kalina II offers a new level of comfort and safety. The most affordable equipment "Standard" is now equipped with a driver's airbag (previously available only in the top versions). For more sophisticated buyers, the Kalina II is available in the Norma and Suite trim levels. Together with the “Norm” the client will receive two airbags, an air conditioner, an ABS system with an emergency brake assist, heated front seats and an audio system with connectivity via Bluetooth and USB interfaces. The Lux version boasts electric windows on all doors, a Panasonic climate system, heated front seats, electric windows and heated side mirrors, as well as a seven-inch LCD audio system.
In some top versions of Kalina, there is Bosch's ESC - Stability Control System. The ESC system continuously monitors data on the speed and angular velocity of the vehicle, pressure in the brake system, steering angle, engine speed, and receiving signals from the respective sensors. In the event of an unfavorable situation (demolition of the front axle or skidding of the rear axle), the system controls each wheel separately to align the position of the car.
The basic version of the "Standard" is equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine producing 87 hp. and five-speed manual gearbox. In the "Lux" version, the car is equipped with a choice of two versions of a 1.6-liter sixteen-valve engine: a 98-liter unit. s., which works in tandem with the Japanese four-stage "automatic" company Jatco, familiar from Lada Granta, or a similar 106-horsepower engine, which will transmit torque to the wheels through a five-step "mechanics". The “lux” with the “automatic” can accelerate to 100 km / h in 13.8 seconds, and the version of this configuration with the “mechanics” and a 106-horsepower engine can dial the first “hundred” in 11.8 seconds. The maximum speed of the two versions of the "Lux" will be 171 and 179 km / h, respectively, the flow rate of these configurations varies between 7 and 8 liters per 100 km in the combined cycle.
Individual words deserve the appearance of an automatic transmission. Potential buyers have been waiting for her for nine years. One of the features of this automatic transmission is the “virtual fifth gear” - while driving in 4th gear (more than 50 km / h), the car moves in more benign and economical modes.
Manual transmissions have also changed. Back in October 2012, AvtoVAZ began manufacturing cars with a modernized manual gearbox. The updated transmission is more reliable, and most importantly - thanks to the original gear selection mechanism, the quality of shifting has been significantly improved. In addition, this MCP has a cable drive instead of hard rods, which increases the vibration comfort of the car. In the new ITUC, the Togliatti Automobile Plant employs a first and second gear synchronizer. This gearbox assembly has become more reliable, plus switching from first to second speed and back now is much softer. The gear selection mechanism is removed from the oil bath - thanks to this, the quality of switching does not depend on the oil temperature in the crankcase. The longitudinal stroke of the lever was reduced by 32 mm, and the force of the gear engagement was reduced three times. Longitudinal and transverse backlash lever in neutral reduced by half. The width of the whole scheme of movement of the lever was reduced by 40 mm, since the position of the reverse gear is moved from the point "to the left of the first" to the position "opposite the fifth".
One of the most notable technical innovations of the second generation Kalina was the upgraded suspension, developed in collaboration with Renault specialists. The car will receive new shock absorbers, springs, silent blocks and anti-roll bars.
For the new LADA Kalina, a modern ventilation and heating system is provided with high performance, noiseless operation of the fan and more efficient distribution of air flow. In the "suite" - a climate system that can automatically control the temperature, intensity and direction of air flow. The climate system previously used on LADA Kalina was only able to maintain the desired temperature. Information for the climate system comes from the temperature sensors and the solar radiation sensor first used on LADA - this combination more finely regulates the temperature in the cabin and keeps it when the external environment changes.
