In addition, the off-road version will be longer than the civilian by 4 cm, wider by 2.5 cm and higher by 5.5 cm.
Suzuki SX4 is equipped with three types of engines: two petrol and diesel FIAT production. The basic version of the car was equipped with a 99-strong 1.5-liter petrol unit with a maximum torque of 133 N / m. The top version received a gasoline 1.6 liter 4-cylinder engine producing 107 hp. and a maximum torque of 145 N / m. Finally, the most powerful in the lineup of power units was a 1.9-liter diesel with 120 hp. and torque of 280 N / m. In this case, the diesel particulate filter is offered in the basic version.
While gasoline engines are paired with a 5-speed manual, for a complete set with a diesel engine also offer a 6-speed manual transmission. However, a 4-speed automatic transmission can be installed on a vehicle with a 1.6 engine and drive to the front axle.
Suzuki SX4 inherited the suspension from Swift (unless its elements were reinforced), got a torsion-like body and a wide rut.
The basic equipment of the SX4 can be called generous. It includes 6 airbags, ABS, electronic brake force distribution system EBD, electric windows and heated mirrors, air conditioning, CD radio and fog lights. The ESP stabilization system is offered for the SX4 only as an option. The all-wheel drive version features black overlays with a wheel arch changer, moldings, roof rails, 16-inch wheels and 190 mm ground clearance. The front-wheel drive is equipped with an automatic transmission, and its ground clearance is reduced to 165 (with 15-inch wheels) or 175 mm.
On the basis of the Suzuki SX4 produced a similar crossover under the brand name Fiat. Cars are almost identical from a technical point of view, but received a different body design and trim. Both cars are assembled at the factory Suzuki Magyar Rt. in Hungarian Esztergum.

However, in the European market, this rowed "four" gives out 120 forces and 156 "Newtons". The engine is paired with either a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic transmission. For the European market is also available two-liter 135-horsepower turbodiesel with 320 N • m of torque. This engine is offered exclusively with a 6-step "mechanics".
Petrol models are available in SZ3 or SZ4 2WD (front-wheel drive) or 4x4 SZ5 format with intermittent / automatic all-wheel drive. Previously, the all-wheel drive version was only with manual transmission - after restyling, they began to offer an automatic for it.
Remarkable is the fact that the SX4 is assembled in Japan and Hungary. The differences between these versions boil down to trifles. In the “Hungarian”, the back of the back seat folds in the ratio of 60:40, while in the “Japanese” it can only be folded down completely. The ground clearance of the all-wheel drive SX4 Hungarian assembly is more than 10 mm and is 185 mm (in Japanese - 175 mm). But at the same time, compared to the old SX4, the new body is lighter by 60 kg, thanks to the wider use of high-strength steels, of which the struts and body sills are made, as well as the side members and some internal amplifiers. The curb weight of the car in the basic equipment is 1085 kg, in the top versions it increases to 1190 kg.
The exterior has become more stylish, dynamic and modern. With notes of sportiness, thoughtful lines and aerodynamic contours. By the way, the coefficient of aerodynamic drag is 0.33. The ground clearance of the crossover is 180 mm for cars with 16-inch wheels. In the top versions, decorated with alloy wheels, an inch more, the distance to the ground is less than five millimeters. The European Suzuki SX4 S-cross has a clearance of 170 and 165 mm, respectively.
The interior is simple but of high quality. Engineers and designers of the Japanese automaker tried to remove all unnecessary and make the front panel as ergonomic as possible in the spirit of modernity. The crossover is offered with one of two 1.6-liter engines to choose from - gasoline and diesel. The gasoline engine can be paired with a five-step "mechanics", and a diesel engine - with a six-speed. For both engines, the CTV variator is also available, having a seven-speed manual mode with the steering column switch. The manufacturer claims that New SX4 emissions are among the lowest in the class. The front-wheel-drive crossover with a diesel engine throws 110 grams of CO2 per kilometer, and the top-end petrol versions, 136 grams per kilometer.
For the Russian market is available only petrol "four". By the way, it was thoroughly modernized. She has a lightweight crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons. The exhaust manifold became lighter by 1.2 kg, and from the attachments - the radiator and the exhaust system. In order to reduce fuel consumption, the stiffness of the valve actuator springs has been reduced, while the oil pump has new, narrower bearings. The updated engine complies with Euro 6 standards.

In terms of efficiency, the petrol engine with the “mechanics” is quite good: on the highway, the consumption of AI-95 gasoline is about 5.0 liters, in the city the consumption increases to 6.8 liters, and in a mixed mode, the crossover will need about 5.6 liters. Such a noticeable reduction in fuel consumption was achieved not only by upgrading the engine, but also by reconfiguring the manual transmission in which the gear ratios of 3, 4 and 5 steps were extended.
Indicators of a gasoline engine paired with a CVT are somewhat more modest. The upper speed limit is declared at around 170-175 km / h (165 km / h for 4WD). The starting acceleration time from 0 to 100 km / h is about 12.4 seconds. Fuel consumption on the highway is 5.0 liters per 100 km, in the city - 6.9 liters, and in mixed mode - 5.7 liters. For all-wheel drive versions of the crossover with any type of PPC additional "increase" in fuel consumption will be approximately 0.3 liters per 100 km.
Buyers will be able to purchase both front-and-wheel drive cars. And the latter is equipped with all-wheel drive technology ALLGRIP new generation with four modes of operation. Auto mode gives priority to fuel economy under normal driving conditions, engaging the rear wheels when it slips.
