The European-class C Rover Tourer has been produced since January 1995.

The Rover Tourer 1.6 SLi was equipped with an overhead valve with an overhead camshaft position of a power unit R4 16V of 1.59 l capacity 112 hp. at 6300 rpm and with a torque of 138 Nm at 5200 rpm. The fuel supply system was a multi-point injection, the gas distribution mechanism - DOHC. With such a motor, the Tourer accelerated to 100 km / h in 10 s, and the maximum speed reached 190 km / h. The consumption of AI-92 gasoline in the urban cycle was 8.6 liters per 100 km of track.

On the Rover Tourer 2.0 Gsi, a 2-liter R4 12V gasoline engine with a maximum power of 136 hp / 6000 rpm and with a torque of 185 Nm / 2500 rpm was installed overhead with two camshafts. Accordingly, the car was more dynamic. Acceleration time up to a hundred at the Tourer with an engine of 2 liters was 8.7 s, the maximum speed was 200 km / h. At the same time the car was more economical: the consumption of the AI-95 in the city, according to the manufacturer, was 8 liters per hundred kilometers.

There was a diesel version of the Tourer; It was produced from September 1995 to February 1997. The 4-cylinder 8-valve turbo diesel with a capacity of 1,769 liters had a power of 88 hp / 4300 rpm and a torque of 180 Nm / 2500 rpm. The maximum speed of the car was 180 km / h, and it took 13 seconds to accelerate to 100 km / h. Fuel consumption in the combined cycle was 5.7 liters.

The engines were located transversely under the hood and were aggregated with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, and the 2-liter Tourer was equipped only with “mechanics”. The car was equipped with front-wheel drive.

The front suspension design included a wishbone, spring-loaded hydraulic struts and an anti-roll bar; De-Dion rear suspension consisted of linking thrust levers, coil springs and transverse stabilizer.

The steering was of the type "gear - rail" with the amplifier. Active safety of the car was maintained by the ABS system, passive - by tensioning seat belts for all passengers, front airbags and stiffeners at the doors, providing protection during side collisions.

The front brakes on the Rover Tourer were ventilated discs and rear disc brakes. The standard tire size is 175/65 R14H or 185 / 55V R15.

In February 1999, the production of all versions of the Rover Tourer was completed. In the future, this word was used to denote versions in the station wagon for the Rover 75, the release of which began in 2001.
