The debut of Kia Avella took place in 1993, when the car was presented only with 3- and 5-door hatchback bodies, and a sedan appeared later, called Avella Delta. The only fundamental difference between the versions is the length of the body. The rest of the cars are completely identical.
It is noteworthy that in the early 90s, Kia Avella came under the Ford Aspire brand to all major world markets, including the USA. Subsequently, the situation changed, this model began to be delivered to Europe under the Kia Avella brand, and to the countries of the Asia-Pacific region under the Ford Festiva brand.
Technically, Kio’s Avella is identical to the Mazda 121 of the 1990s. She inherited from this model gearbox, suspension and even the engine, namely the in-line 4-cylinder 1.3-liter power unit with a capacity of 73 hp.

Continuing the comparison between the Mazda 121 and Avella, it is worth noting: the new torpedo, increased trunk and noticeably grown in height at the Kio. It turned out to be spacious, and the high roof leaves a large space between the ceiling and the head.
For small things that may come in handy on the road, there is a very modest-sized glove box and a pair of small pockets in the front door trim. Between the radio and the ashtray there is a retractable cup holder.
A voluminous trunk opens from the passenger compartment, and the rear seatbacks fold up to a 60:40 ratio, increasing its capacity.
Innovative lines of the body and the hood, a trivial solution of grille, smooth shape of the rear bumper, bright drop-shaped lights emphasize the uniqueness of the image and dynamism. By the way, the streamlined body was independently developed by Korean designers. Let not very beautiful, but functional.
You can find quite a large variety of complete sets of Kia Avella. The most simple equipment includes power, audio package (antenna, 4 speakers) and central locking. A richer version has air conditioning, electric mirrors and drains, airbags, immobilizer, radio, sunroof and ABS.
The devices are well readable, the controls are convenient and easily accessible. Adjusting the steering column is not, but in height, angle and length of the column steering wheel is quite convenient. The dashboard contains: speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauges and temperatures. The illumination of devices is very well solved. Lighting control is performed from the left stalk switch, wiper and washer - from the right.
A wide range of driver's seat adjustments and a special profile of pillows with lateral support allow the driver to feel comfortable even after a long hard trip.
Separately, it should be said about the security system on the Kia Avella.
The front of the car, down to the driver's seat, is reinforced with high strength steel panels, setting new standards in safety for small cars. In combination with three-point safety belts, the driver provides reliable protection in the event of a frontal collision.

In 1999, Kia Avella was restyled. The updated version differs from the previous form of the front and the presence of large letters DELTA on the cut of the trunk lid (sedan).
The Avella cars for the Russian market strengthened suspension and increased to 165 mm ground clearance. The body is made of zinc metal - a steel sheet on one side is subjected to special treatment, where, as the name suggests, zinc is present, and then all body parts are stamped from it. Welded seams are protected by special mastic.
And in 2000, it was replaced by a new subcompact model - the Kia Rio.
