The premiere of the Hyundai XG as a prototype took place in 1998 in Paris, and the production car was lit a few months later at the Seoul auto show. The car was built on the Hyundai Sonata platform with a 50 mm longer base and 165 mm overall length. At home, the car is called the Grandeur.
XG is a new level of Hyundai cars. The embodiment of years of experience in a stylish, modern design, exclusive finishing materials and excellent dynamics. Recent advances in active and passive safety take care of passengers.
The XG harmoniously combines solidity, comfort and spaciousness, plus rich equipment, powerful engine and an attractive price. It is believed that the development of XG is fully owned by Hyundai, but similar features with Mitsubishi Diamante are taking place.
The dimensions (4865x1825x1420 mm) are solid for the car, but with such dimensions the XG does not look heavy. Inside, the cabin space is even more spacious than it is visually presented from the outside. The back sofa is double, but if you wish, by removing the armrest, you can fit in three of them. The armrest, by the way, is hollow - serves in combination as a glove compartment. Chance to get his knees to the driver's seat is small. Large pockets in the backs of the front seats are made of hard material, so the paper they will not be confused. The driver's seat has a large number of adjustments that allow you to comfortably accommodate a person of any configuration.
Color trim seats and doors match the color of the dashboard. Devices are well read. Scales at a minimum - only four. The fuel level and thermometer are small, the speedometer and tachometer are large. Steering column adjustable. It also contains the cruise control buttons. Door windows, mirrors, trunk lock, seat adjustment mechanisms are equipped with electric drives. The center console is trimmed under the tree.
A high level of comfort is the merit of a good suspension, wide gauge and long base. Most road irregularities go unnoticed. The car is not inclined to collapse in corners (anti-roll bars front and rear) or peck during heavy braking (disc brakes, ABS and electronic brake-force regulator). Add to this the excellent sound insulation. Disc brakes on all wheels (ventilated front).
Basic equipment offers: electric power steering, ABS, front and side airbags, leather trim, immobilizer, central locking, climate, cruise control, power windows, heated mirrors and seats, fog lights, rain sensor, on-board control system, stereo system 4 speakers, alloy wheels.
Hyundai offers three variants of the model - XG25, XG30 and XG35, differing mainly in power units. All models are equipped only with V6 petrol engines with a working volume of 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 liters, with an output of 163 hp, 188 hp, 197 hp, respectively. with the latter two - only with hydromechanical adaptive 5-speed "automatic" type ZF Tiptronic.
In 2004, held a facelift. The numerical designation of the sedan has also changed - previously the rounded engine size (cm3) was reduced by 100 times, and it turned out XG 25 or 30, and it became XG 250 and 300.
In March 2005, Hyundai introduced the sedan, according to the European classification, falling into the “E” segment, which will be named Hyundai Grandeur. This car, apparently, will be the successor to the Hyundai XG, and the new product will have to be available in the summer of 2005.
