2018 FAW Besturn X80. Overview (interior, exterior, engine).
Besturn X80 is the first full-fledged independent urban crossover in the history of the company FAW. In the Middle Kingdom, the model was first presented at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2013. The car hit our market only in the second half of 2014, after the official premiere at the Moscow Motor Show.
At the heart of the exterior is the FAW X concept car, shown at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show. Serial Besturn X80 from its prototype differs in a different form of bumpers and a number of other improvements.
The appearance of the crossover turned out harmonious and attractive. Modern head optics with integrated LED daytime running lights look good in tandem with an expressive grille, in the middle of which stands the manufacturer's logo. Complementing the picture is a compact bumper with a protective ski and round foglights in chrome-plated frames. The sloping roof, turning into the visor - tailgate spoiler, gives the exterior of the Chinese car dynamics. The monumental back of the body received a large tailgate, neat ceiling dimensions, solid bumper, complemented by vertical foglights and powerful trapezium exhaust pipe nozzles.
The body length of the Besturn X80 is 4586 mm, the length of the wheelbase is 2675 mm, width - 1820 mm, and height - 1695 mm. The width of the front and rear wheels is equal to 1580 mm, the height of the crossover ground clearance does not exceed 190 mm. The angle of entry / exit is 26 and 27 degrees, respectively, and the curb weight of the car varies between 1,500 and 1,570 kg, depending on the configuration. The volume of the fuel tank FAW X80 is 64 liters.
The interior of the five-seater cabin Besturn X80 is built on the principle of symbiosis of straight and round shapes, harmoniously distributed throughout the space. Soft plastic is used approximately equally with hard plastic. Optimal in diameter and cross section of the steering wheel is covered with high quality leatherette. The tidy keys of the controls are grouped with logical blocks. The dashboard is a pair of deep wells, the bottom of which removed the main devices. The readings are well read, regardless of the time of day.
The chairs of the first row and the second seat in Chinese are unpretentious, with a soft filling. Comfort will be created when traveling for short distances, but during a long trip they will not provide adequate back support, and they will not keep them in turns. The driver and front passenger is provided with a decent reserve of free space by the standards of the class, three passengers of medium height will sit in the second row without problems, but high ceiling can cause discomfort to high people.
As for the luggage compartment, a considerable part of it was “eaten” by the dynamic profile of the roof. The capacity of the trunk of the X80 is modest, for this class of car, 398 liters. As compensation, it is possible to increase the size and volume of the luggage compartment with the help of a convenient transformation of the second-row seats (a flat cargo area is formed, and the volume increases by more than three times).
As a base engine, Russian customers are offered a 4-cylinder CA4GD1 naturally aspirated engine with a displacement of 2.0 liters. The engine is equipped with a 16-valve timing mechanism DOHC type, multi-point fuel injection system, fully meets the requirements of the environmental standard Euro-5 and is capable of developing up to 147 hp (108 kW) maximum power. The motor torque at its peak, reached at 4000 revolutions per minute, is 184 Nm, which gives the crossover excellent acceleration dynamics. It is known only that the maximum speed of movement of the novelty will be 185 km / h, regardless of the type of gearbox installed, of which two are proposed for the X80: 6-speed “mechanics” and 6-band “automatic” Aisin. With regard to fuel consumption, then with manual transmission, the engine will eat about 8.2 liters, and together with the automatic transmission it will raise its appetite to 8.6 liters.
The second engine aspirated CA4GD3 2.3 liter working volume. The engine is entirely made of lightweight aluminum alloy, equipped with a 16-valve timing, variable valve timing system, multi-point fuel injection system, also fully meets the requirements of the Euro-5 standard, and its maximum power is declared at 160 hp. (118 kW). The peak torque of this unit is equal to 207 Nm and is achieved at 4000 rev / min. The maximum speed limit is 190 km / h. This engine is aggregated exclusively with a robotic gearbox, and its average fuel consumption is about 9.1 liters.
The FAW Besturn X80 crossover is built on a slightly modified second-generation Mazda 6 platform by Chinese engineers. The front part of the novelty rests on an independent design with MacPherson struts, a stabilizer and double wishbones. The back of the body rests on the multi-link design of the E-type with anti-roll bar. All wheel brakes are disc, front ventilated.
Engineers from FAW quite thoroughly approached the issue of safety, having thought over the body structure to the smallest detail: 12 key units, high-strength steel, programmable deformation zones, laser welding, additional reinforcement bars in the door structure - all this indicates a high reliability of the car’s design, which has already managed to get 5 stars in the tests C-NCAP.
In addition, internal equipment is not far behind. Here, depending on the configuration, there are front and side airbags for the front passengers, as well as curtain airbags for both rows of seats. Also, the car received a whole package of electronic assistants: ABS, EBD, EBA, ESP, TCS (traction control), DTC (thrust control) and tire pressure monitoring system.
The initial version of Base is equipped with alloy wheels R17, fog lights, electric exterior mirrors, roof rails, spoiler and windshield wiper on the tailgate, 4 power windows, power steering with remote control, multifunction steering wheel, audio system (CD MP3 AUX-IN radio 4 speakers), onboard computer, air conditioning, a pair of front airbags, ABS and EBD, EPB, cloth upholstered seats.
The richest grade Flagship is crammed with options to the eyeballs. In addition to the standard equipment available in the basic version, adaptive xenon and daylight LEDs, rain and light sensors, electric mirrors and heated, electric sunroof, cruise control, keyless access Intelligent Key, leather interior, electric drive and heated front seats, modern multimedia complex will be added with TFT Screen color touch screen (DVD, GPS navigation, Bluetooth, CD MP3 AUX iPod 6 speakers), dual-zone climate control, side airbags and curtain airbags, EBA, TCS, ESP, TPMS, parking sensors and a rear-view camera.
