RichieRichMo3 Homies Rides Episode # 1 | 2001 Acura CL Type-S

The CL sports coupe was the first Acura model, fully designed and manufactured in the USA. The basic CL took over the overall style of the CL-X concept car, shown in 1995, the appearance of which is really unusual: you won't find a lock on the trunk lid — it opens with a lever located at the driver’s seat or with a button on the remote door opener.

Initially Acura CL was offered in two versions of the engine 2.2CL and 3.0CL, of the same type to the corresponding Honda Accord Coupe cars, from where the independent suspension with all its features was fully borrowed. The all-aluminum engine, which is also borrowed from Accord, has an electronically controlled fuel injection system developed by Honda.

The Acura CL, first introduced in 1996 as the 1997 model, took a position among Integra and TL sedans in the general range. In 1998, the base CL received a larger, more powerful 2.3-liter engine, with the result that the 2.2CL model changed its designation to 2.3CL.

Riding safety is provided by: dual airbags and ABS system. The 2.3CL 4-cylinder engine, with a 2.3-liter working volume, 150 hp, is made using VTEC technology, the 3.0CL has a 3.0-liter VTEC V6 with 200 hp capacity. Standard equipment on both versions includes automatic climate control; Power windows and mirrors, central locking; height-adjustable steering wheel; Cruise control; leather and wood trim; automated hatch. The 3.0CL is supplemented with a 4-speed automatic transmission, heated mirrors, an automated driver's seat, with 8 tuning positions and an expensive Bose stereo system.

At the beginning of 2000, the new coupe 3.2CL was shown unified along the chassis with the 3.2TL sedan. The novelty is equipped with a 3.2-liter “six” with a capacity of 228 hp, and the 3.2CL Type S variant - with a more powerful engine of 263 hp. The wheelbase is increased from 2715 to 2745 mm.

Compared to the previous generation, the car of the 2003 model year received a modified grille, new headlights, taillights, exhaust system, and brand new six-light alloy wheels. In the new model year, the car will be equipped with an aluminum 24-valve six-cylinder power unit of 3.2 liters. Its capacity is 225 hp, and it works in tandem with the Sport-Shift automatic sequential transmission. Standard equipment includes 16-inch wheels, ABS, climate control, leather upholstery and a six-disc Bose audio system. The sports version of the Acura CL - Type S will be equipped with a standard 260 hp engine, 17-inch wheels with high-speed tires and leather seats with perforation. In addition, the newest six-speed manual gearbox with close gears, which is 29 kilograms lighter than the “automaton”, is offered as an option.

The standard CL includes an automatic climate control system, power windows and door locks, a keyless door opening system with integrated anti-theft alarm, an adjustable driver's seat with 6 motion and tilt electric drives, an electric glass door and a six-speaker audio system and a CD player .
